VR Space Documentary

In 2018, Imverse partnered with Mark Boulos, an americano-swiss filmmaker and artist to create a special new virtual reality experience using and driving the developments of Imverse technology. Before Imverse was created as a startup the two founders Javier Bello Ruiz and Robin Mange worked in a psychology and brain research lab. Mark Boulos did a residency there where the spirits of technology and art met. This led to an idea of making a virtual reality documentary about space, time, and black holes, which would be brought to life with a new real-time 3D capture technology.

The experience was therefore independently produced and called “ELASTIC TIME”. Interviewing Tony Stark, a famous astrophysicist from MIT college who explained how black holes work from inside of an observatory, while the phenomenon of the black holes is specifically happening at the same time. My role in the production was involved in some parts of the early versions of the experience as well as in the whole promotion of the experience. In the following video I made, Mark Boulos explains his vision:

Elastic Time premiered at Sundance 2018, as one of the very first of its kind by putting each participant inside the documentary, capturing their real appearances. My role was also heavily involved in running the experience and guide people before, during, and after the experience. Here is a preview of the exhibition at the festival in the New Frontier Section:

The experience was very well received, especially from the point of view of innovation and exhibited again at multiple venues such as SXSW, Visions du Réel, Cannes, World VR Forum, and SIGGRAPH. At Sundance, we had the pleasure to receive a few Hollywood and music celebrities such as Elijah Wood, Reggie Watts, M.I.A (Paper Planes), Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), as well as Swiss President Alain Berset at Cannes Festival.
